Prophetic Sīrah: Contemporary Readings and Relevance in a Pluralistic Context

Faculty of Islamic Studies at Naleemiah Institute of Islamic Studies (NIIS), Beruwala, Sri Lanka, in collaboration with the Faculty of Leadership and Management at Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM), under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

Historical Development of Sīrah

To examine the historical development of Sirah literature and propose contemporary approaches for modern challenges.

Mercy in the Prophet’s Mission

To analyze the concept of mercy in the Prophet’s (PBUH) mission and its universal implications.

Interfaith Harmony

To explore the Prophet’s (PBUH) interactions with people of other faiths as a model for inter-religious harmony.

Prophet as a Social Reformer

To assess his role as a social reformer and his contributions to justice and societal transformation.

Principles for Nation-Building

To derive principles from the Sirah for nation-building and peaceful coexistence in multi-ethnic societies.

Sri Lankan Muslim Context

To study the representation of the Prophet (PBUH) within Sri Lanka’s Muslim minority context.

eProgramme Book Launch: International Symposium on the Sīrah of the Prophet (PBUH) – 2025

We’re delighted to announce the release of the official eProgramme Book of the International Symposium on the Sīrah of the Prophet (PBUH) – 2025, held on 8–9 October 2025 at the Naleemiah Institute of Islamic Studies (NIIS), Beruwala.

Organized by the Faculty of Islamic Studies, NIIS, in collaboration with Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM), this symposium explored the theme “Prophetic Sīrah: Contemporary Readings and Relevance in a Pluralistic Context.”

The eProgramme Book features inspiring keynote insights, scholarly abstracts, and reflections from renowned academics from Sri Lanka and Malaysia—highlighting the Prophet’s timeless guidance for peace, social justice, and coexistence in today’s world.
